For one weekend in June sample the authentic taste of the West Coast at the BC Shellfish Festival. Starting on Friday evening with a chefs’ dinner on the lawn at the historic Filberg Heritage Lodge along the shores of Baynes Sound, the festival kicks into high gear on Saturday with musical performances, chef demos, competitions and lots of locally grown seafood from the heart of Canada’s oyster growing capital – the Comox Valley.

Since 1995, the Vancouver Island MusicFest has been bringing roots music to the Comox Valley. It is a rural, family friendly music event built by volunteers and featuring over 200 performers on five programmed stages. Audience members are invited to take part in workshops, yoga sessions, kids activities, art displays and more. The 2012 line-up includes K.D. Lang, Emmylou Harris, The Sheepdogs, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Matt Andersen and many more!

The Comox Valley agricultural fair was first held in 1873. Today, the tradition holds strong and attracts some 15,000 visitors annually. The fair is held over one weekend in August including such events and attractions as a 4H Club, horse show, farmer's market, antique machinery display, dog show, pony rides, food fair, midway, kid zone and more.

The conference will focus on providing support for survivors, caregivers and family members as they deal with common struggles faced post injury including depression, addiction, and homelessness. With this theme it is our hope to address children and youth as it is a very prevalent need within our community.
